How Does ZIP Compression Reduce File Size?
Standard ZIP Compression
Attempts to compress the files without changing their contents using the DEFLATE algorithm. Works well for text, code, and uncompressed data. However, JPEG, PNG, WebP, MP4, and similar formats are already compressed, so ZIP recompression alone may provide little additional savings.
Content Optimization
Re-encodes supported images at lower quality or resolution to achieve greater size reduction. This is a lossy process — the image data changes — but allows much greater savings for image-heavy archives. The tool lets you control how much quality reduction to apply.
